Unknown Gunman Fires at Police

V.I. Police Officer Kendelth Wharton was driving on patrol Friday night when a single shot was fired at his car, shattering a window.

Wharton was not injured.

According to the V.I. Police Department, the shooting too place at 11:56 p.m. Friday.

Wharton heard the shot fired while driving on Veterans Drive, in the area of the Water and Power pump-house. The single shot shattered the vehicle’s front passenger side window. Wharton continued driving and notified the dispatcher of the situation.

Several units conducted a search of Beltjen Road and the surrounding areas but were unable to find anything, and the incident will be followed up by the VIPD Investigation Bureau.
