Man Injured in Bergs Home Shooting

A man sitting on a porch in the Bergs Home Housing Community was shot repeatedly Sunday night in a drive-by shooting, the V.I. Police reported.

According to the report, at 11:21 p.m. Sunday, Treston Stephens, age not reported, was sitting on a friend’s porch in the housing community when he noticed a dark colored vehicle driving in the wrong direction towards the building where he was sitting.

Gunfire broke out from the passenger side window of the vehicle, hitting Stephens several times.

As his body slumped to the floor, the person he’d been visiting dragged him into the apartment, protecting him from additional gunfire, the police said.

Stephens was transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment of a fractured femur caused by gunshots to his right thigh and buttocks.

Stephens told officers he wasn’t familiar with the vehicle or the individual who shot him.

Detectives are investigating the matter and urge anyone with information concerning this assault to phone the 911 emergency call center or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800- 222-8477. Information provided will be kept in the strictest confidence.
