Police on St. Croix are investigating a case in which shots were fired Thursday night in the Harvey housing community, and a man was treated for injuries that may have resulted from those shots.
According to the V.I. Police Department, officers responded to a report of gunshots fired in the area about 10:25 p.m. Upon inspection of the area police collected several spent shell casings and noticed damage from gunshots to two vehicles parked in the parking lot.
Police said no witnesses came forward while they were investigating.
While officers were collecting evidence from the scene, they were informed a male with gunshot injuries was being treated at the Gov. Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital. Dispatchers at 911 told the officers the victim had been in the vicinity of the Estate Profit Ball Park when he was taken to the hospital.
Officers travelled to the hospital to acquire additional information. Detectives of the Criminal Investigation Bureau are following up on this case.
