Suspect Sold Stolen Jewelry for $300

Police on St. Thomas arrested 25-year-old Kyle Lantz of New Hampshire on Wednesday, charging him with grand larceny after a Princess Gade resident accused the suspect of stealing jewelry from him, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, the victim told officers that jewelry had been stolen from inside his home, that only one person was inside his home at the time and that person knew where the jewelry was kept. The victim also told police he approached the person he suspected and asked for his jewelry. He was told the jewelry was sold to the American Paradise Gift shop in Havensight, police reported.

The incident occurred Tuesday, according to the 40-year-old victim who said a gold necklace and gold bracelet were taken. The suspect, who was later identified as Lantz, said he sold the gold bracelet to the store for $300. He told police he did not take the necklace.

Lantz was arrested about 7 p.m. Wednesday and charged with grand larceny. He was placed on a $35,000 bail, which he was unable to post.
