V.I. Fighters Sign On for Five More Years with 340 Boxing

V.I. professional boxers John Jackson, Julius Jackson and Samuel Rogers have signed on for another five years with 340 Boxing, the local management group that they’ve been with since 2008.

Dubbed the "Hawk’s Flock" by the national media – a reference to the group’s trainer, boxing great Julian "The Hawk" Jackson – the boxers said recently that they’re ready to move forward with the team that helped launch their careers, a team that includes renowned matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing.

“There was not even a thought about not re-signing this deal," said 340 Boxing’s Jose "Tony" Rosario. "We have the best promoter in the world with Sampson Boxing – we are very happy with how far he’s brought us and the committment he’s made to our guys. Sampson and 340 Boxing will be a force to be reckoned with in the near future.”

The boxers have kept their names in the national media the last two years, landing gigs that have sent them everywhere from Las Vegas to Argentina, where they picked up a pair of wins last month while appearing on an internationally televised fight card.

The fight earned Julius Jackson (17-0, 13 KOs) the vacant WBA Fedebol Super Middleweight title and a bump up in the World Boxing Council and World Boxing Association ranks.

“This team that has been put together has been the best thing that ever happened to my career,” Jackson said. “We’re going to keep working with this team and I’m excited for the future.”

John Jackson (18-1, 15 KOs) and Rogers (14-1, 8 KOs) also spoke recently about renewing the partnership, with each saying that they are anxious to see what else is around the corner.

"I feel good about this," John Jackson said. "I wouldn’t even think about signing with anyone else. We’ve got the best team in the world and I’m excited to see where this year brings us. I can’t wait to get back in the ring."

During last month’s fight, Jackson took down Argentina’s Jorge Daniel Miranda after eight rounds. Jackson was the first of the "flock" to bring 340 Boxing into the spotlight, after he landed – among other things – two appearances on ESPN2’s "Friday Night Fights" and a junior middleweight belt.

The Jackson brothers continue to have their eyes on the same kind of notoriety earned by their father, Julian Jackson Sr., a three-time world champion and Boxing Hall of Famer.

Rogers, meanwhile, is also working on evolving as a professional, and said that he’s going to take advantage of the partnership between 340 Boxing and Lewkowicz and focus on his training.

“I am very pleased to be staying with this team,” he added. “I will continue to work my hardest and do my part to make the most of all the great opportunities my promoters have given me. The future is very bright.”
