Carlton S. Walters, 22, who was wanted by detectives from the V.I. Police Department’s Domestic Violence Unit, turned himself in to police at about 7 p.m. Friday.
Police had issued a wanted poster for Walters on Thursday.
Detectives said, following his surrender, Walters was charged with third-degree assault, possession of a dangerous weapon, aggravated assault and battery, simple assault and battery, and contempt of court.
His bail was set at $50,000. He was also arrested separately for patrol violation and bail on that matter was set at $20,000.
Police said the charges stem from a domestic violence incident that took place in October, in which, according to police, Walters assaulted his ex-girlfriend with a weapon. He was incarcerated and later released.
After his release from Golden Grove, detectives said Walters returned to the same woman’s home Dec. 10, entered her dwelling without permission, threatened her by pointing a weapon in her face and assaulted her.
Walters is also charged with violating a restraining order and the terms of his probation.
