St. Croix Central High School was officially notified this week that it has been granted full reaccreditation by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, according to the V.I. Department of Education.
The school will hold a presentation for its staff at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Central High library to mark the event.
The school was visited in April by an evaluation team from Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, the private association that accredits schools which adhere to its educational standards.
During the visit the team evaluated everything from the school’s facilities to its curriculum. At the end of that visit the team presented an oral report that recommended Central be reaccredited for another seven years, until 2020.
In a statement issued Wednesday night by the Department of Education, Commissioner designee Donna Frett-Gregory congratulated the school for its accomplishment.
"While going through the re-accreditation process earlier this year, the Middle States evaluation team spoke highly about this school and it’s unique learning environment, and we at the department have been equally impressed by the hard work and dedication put in every day by the school’s staff to ensure that each student leaves ready to succeed in college or within the global workforce," the com missioner said. "It is evident that the Central High community demonstrated to Middle States their continued commitment to excellence, and we are extremely proud of them."
