Human Services Announces Decrease in SNAP Benefits

Changes will be made to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) as of Nov. 1. SNAP benefits will be decreased due to the expiration of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). This reduction of benefits is not affiliated with the recent federal shutdown, according to a press release issued Wednesday by the V.I. Department of Human Services.
Notification of the specific amount of reductions will be issued to all SNAP beneficiaries via mail.
For more information, contact the SNAP office in the Division of Family Assistance at 774-0930 on St. Thomas; 773-2323 or 772-0085 on St. Croix.
