Couple Carjacked at Sunny Isles

A couple had their car stolen by two armed men Wednesday at Sunny Isles Shopping Center.

According to the V.I. Police Department, officers were dispatched to Sunny Isles about 7:15 p.m. There, the male victim told police that he and his wife were parked near Payless Shoes when two Hispanic men approached the driver’s side of the vehicle and demanded his car keys.

The men then forcibly removed the victim from the car while the victim told his wife to run, which she did. One of the suspects fired at least two shots; however, no one was injured.

The victim said the suspects drove his vehicle, a blue 2004 Toyota Corolla, license plate CEJ-699, in a westerly direction on the Melvin Evans Highway. He said the suspects wore white T-shirts and caps on their heads. Neither victim could give any further description of the suspects.

Police issued an All Points Bulletin on the vehicle and are still searching for it.
