Theodore Tunick & Co. Employee Recognized with National Honor

The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research has announced that Jessica P. Grell of Theodore Tunick & Company, a division of Marshall & Sterling Insurance, located on St. Thomas, is the 2013 Outstanding CSR of the Year recipient for the United States Virgin Islands. To qualify for this top state honor, Grell submitted the winning essay on the topic "Communication is one of the most important parts of building strong relationships with your clients, companies and coworkers." Additionally, Grell was selected for having demonstrated outstanding service and professionalism within the insurance community.
Grell was first introduced to the world of insurance as a summer intern in 1994, and due to her exemplary performance, she was requested back in 1995. After her internship ended, the overall industry knowledge she had acquired enabled her to accept a full time position at Val’s Insurance on St. Thomas. This paved the way into an insurance career that is now in its 19th year. She started as a customer service representative and became a licensed insurance agent in 1999. During her tenure with Val’s Insurance, she broadened her experiences and worked in several departments, including Personal and Commercial Lines, Accounting and Claims. She then accepted a position as a Personal Lines CSR with Theodore Tunick & Company in 2006.
She exemplifies professionalism and always endeavors to put the customers first. She was named Theodore Tunick & Company’s “Employee of the Year” in 2011, and received Marshall & Sterling’s Community Service Award in 2012. She has championed many causes including being team captain of Tunick Angels (Theodore Tunick’s relay team in the American Cancer Society premier fun raiser – Relay For Life) and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross after Hurricane Marilyn. Grell attained her CISR designation in 2008 and is currently working on her CIC designation. It gives her great pleasure to serve her community by providing the appropriate solutions to their insurance needs.
“Ms. Grell was chosen as a state winner for exemplifying the characteristics and qualifications required to be eligible for the prestigious National Outstanding CSR of the Year Award," said Dr. William T. Hold, Ph.D., CIC, CPCU, CLU, president of The National Alliance. “She represents the backbone of the insurance community, those customer service representatives distinguished for providing exceptional service on a daily basis."
“We are honored to have Ms. Grell as part of our team on St. Thomas,” said Timothy Dean, president of Marshall & Sterling Enterprises Inc., the parent company of Theodore Tunick & Co. “She consistently performs at an exemplary level and serves as an exceptional role model for outstanding service and dedication to customer service.”
