Rolando A. Watley was arrested Wednesday and charged with contempt of court and child neglect in connection with an incident that occurred Aug. 8, according to the V.I. Police Department.
Police said Watley, 29, was arrested just before 9 a.m. and held without bail pending further action from the court.
According to the report, Watley took his two minor children from their mother on Aug. 8 and drove away without her permission. The mother told police she has full custody of the children.
Police pursued Watley to the Upper Love area, where Watley exited the vehicle and took the children into the bushes. Using a heat seeking device, police later located the children, age five and nine, alone in the bushes.
The children were unharmed.
This case continues to be investigated by the Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives.
