Westin to Begin $12 Million Renovation

The Westin Resort and Villas on St. John will start a nearly $12 million renovation that includes redoing 96 of the hotels rooms located at the beach and the pool, the hotel announced in a press release issued this week.

“We’re doing it to continue to meet the needs and expectations of our customers,” Westin manager Mike Ryan said Wednesday.

Plans also include infrastructure and exterior upgrades on the property and other improvements around the resort. Ryan said the job includes putting new roofs, siding, doors and windows on the 96 rooms.

Ryan said the rooms will get things like new mattresses, new nightstands, new soft goods such as bed linens and towels, as well as new mirrors and fixtures in the bathrooms.

The renovation on the beach and poolside hotel rooms is expected to begin in August with a rolling timeline so as to minimize disruption to resort guests, the press release indicated.

The resort’s additional 76 hotel rooms and 146 villas will not be impacted during this refurbishment schedule.
