Street Addressing to Begin Monday on St. Thomas

Field crews from the Street Addressing Initiative will begin implementing addresses in the Charlotte Amalie pilot area on Monday, the Lieutenant Governor’s office announced.

The addressing area encompasses the historic district and extends as far as Kommandants Gade to the west, with Bluebeard’s Hill and Hospital Line as the respective eastern and northern boundaries.

Field crews will visit each residence and business in the pilot area to leave an information packet. The packets contain the new address that has been assigned to the location. Each new address will include a number and a street name.

Residents will be asked to verify that the project team correctly understands their existing address information as reported in property tax databases and contact the Lt. Governor’s Office if the address information listed is incorrect.

Contact information and instructions are provided in the packet material.

Addressing in Charlotte Amalie will complete the pilot phase of the territory’s Street Addressing Initiative, which establishes a logical addressing system for the territory’s roads. Addressing in the Mon Bijou/Frangipani community on St. Croix was completed in March. The second pilot area of Cruz Bay on St. John was completed in April.
