Missing Man Found, Tells Police He Wasn't Lost

The V.I. Police Department have located Khaien Donawa, 40, a well-known local figure who had been reported missing a week ago, but the missing man apparently did not need finding.

A three-sentence report issued Tuesday morning by the police tells the whole story: "The missing man had been located. He is safe and unharmed. According to Mr. Donawa he was never missing."

Donawa is known as D.J. Mavarick and at one time worked at radio station 1620 AM

Donawa is often seen on the side of the road near the Sion Farm traffic light selling bottled water and other items from his white Chevy Uplander.

On June 5, police received reports from friends of Donawa saying he was missing. The police issued an all-points bulletin on both the man and the vehicle, which was also reported missing, and urged anyone who saw him to call the police.

The department repeated the call to the community Monday looking for help in finding Donawa.

No details were available Tuesday morning to explain where Donawa had been or why he’d been considered missing.
