Paula Carty Dies in Virginia

Services for Paula Carty will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday Aug. 25, at Granby Chapel, Norfolk, Virginia. Paula passed away on Aug. 12, at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was a member of Charlotte Amalie High School class of 1978 and a member of Faith Deliverance Christian Center of Norfolk, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her father, David R. N. Carty. A veteran educator, she taught for many years in the school systems in Virginia Beach and Atlanta.
She is survived by her mother, Olivia Donovan Carty; daughter, Jasmine Swan; granddaughters: Jaida, J’lani and Treshaun; grandson, Kobe; sister, Frances Ann Richards; brothers: Melvin, Sele Adeyemi, Norvel, Glenridge (Ras Nisha), Dale and Leborne Carty; nieces; Cheryl Walters, Pamela Walters, Sikina Walters, Nicole Walters Kima Brady, Jenisha Christopher, Lynette Deguire, Margaret Richards, Yvonne Henville, Cynthia Connor, Zakia Connor and Elysabeth Carty; nephews; Melvin Walters Jr., Mchumba Donovan, Kwame Donovan and Sekou Donovan, Kitaka Donovan, Weusi Donovan,Lee Richards, David James, Collin James, Nathaniel Carty, Leborne Carty Jr., Elias Carty, Josiah Carty, Nisha Christopher, Inisha Christopher and Jahnisha Christopher; aunt, Madeline Walcott; sisters-in-law: Bernadette Carty, Dr. Cheryl Moremi Adeyemi and Bebe Anna Carty; special friends: Cordelia Fredericks, Nathaniel Felton, Mary E. Dotson, Rose Sykes, Alecia Myrick and Alvin Butts; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
