The Cobras and the Yankees were Sunday’s winners in the Raphael Jackson AA Baseball League at the D.C. Canegata ballpark. The Cobras knocked off the Vikings, 7-3, in the opener, and the Yankees were two runs better that the Dominicanos in the nightcap.
Cobras 7, Vikings 3
Sunday’s first game between the Cobras and the Vikings was marred by errors with both teams amassing four apiece. However the Cobras were a little better offensively and they were able to pull out the 7-3 victory.
The Cobras had seven runs on five hits and four errors, while the Vikings finished with three runs on four hits and four errors.
Otoniel Perrera got the win on the hill for the Cobras. Top batter for the winners was Angel Torres (1 for 2 with one RBI), and Mark Knight was 2 for 4 for the Vikings.
Yankees 6, Dominicanos 4
The Dominicanos had no one to blame for this loss but themselves, as they committed four errors en route to a 6-4 loss to the defending champions.
Dushane Brown got the win on the mound for the Yankees and helped himself with the bat by going 1 for 2 at the plate with one RBI. Other top batters for the Yankees were Leroy Simmonds (2 for 4 with two RBIs), and Khalif Gerard (1 for 1 with one RBI).
For the Dominicanos, Antonio Cruz was 1 for 2.
