Victim and Suspect Injured in Christiansted Robbery

Police are investigating a first-degree robbery that resulted in injuries to the victim and one attacker on Thursday.

Police were dispatched to the Christiansted area at about 6:30 a.m. and observed two people fighting on Queen Street, according to a Police Department statement. Officers broke up the fight and detained the men, whose names were not given.

During the police interview one man said that two men walked up to him and asked for money. He told police he refused to give them money and began to walk away from them. The victim said one man grabbed him from behind and the other suspect cut him on his forearm with a knife. The victim said he grabbed a bottle and broke it and used it to strike the suspects.

The victim and one suspect were transported to the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment.

The case is being followed by Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives. No arrests have been made at this time.
