Police Sgt. Arrested For Padding Hours

Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives on St. Thomas arrested Police Sgt. Sherry-Ann Hughes, 46 and charged her with obtaining money under false pretense and fraudulent claims against the government. Hughes was arrested at about 7 a.m. Friday, and taken for advice of rights in court the same day. Hughes was released on her own recognizance by order of the court.

Detectives said Hughes submitted time worked on her behalf to the VIPD payroll division for dates when she was off-island on personal business unrelated to VIPD.
