Relax, Heal at St. Thomas Wellness Fair

Everything from divine healing to yoga to zumba and spinal analysis – to say nothing of aromatherapy, reflexology and any kind of massage you can imagine – will be offered Saturday at the fifth annual Wellness Fair sponsored by the Therapy Association and Disabilities Advocates of the Virgin Islands at Magens Bay Beach from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shed No. 3.

And that’s not to mention vegan sailing.

Yes, the idea does conjure up a picture of little cucumbers and tomatoes at the mast. But actually life coach Anne Nayer will be taking people out on a sail while offering a vegan lunch.

All manner of fresh food also will be available on shore at the fair.

"People are introduced to new things," said Eileen Short, TADA president. "Some people explore things they hadn’t even known existed.” She spoke of chiropractor Tammi Reeve last year who introduced network spinal analysis that touches mind, body and soul, noting Reeve will be at the fair again this year.

Short explained the event: "It’s about people looking for health, empowerment, for peace. Unity in the community is the phrase that keeps going through my head."

The event will promote good health and wellness by showcasing a number of fitness activities such as yoga for adults and children, tai chi, meditation and nutrition.

Community organizations that promote wellness have been invited to be part of the fair as well as massage therapists, chiropractors, fitness trainers, wellness specialists, counselors and nutritionists.

The Schneider Regional Medical Center Rehabilitation Department will be coordinating the event along with fellow TADA members.

TADA is a not for profit organization made up occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech therapists working in all clinical areas in the territory. The organization also has a large base of associated allied professionals and community volunteers. Its mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities.
