Three Men, Two Minors Charged with Unlicensed Firearms

Three men and two male minors were arrested about 6:30 a.m. Thursday on St. Croix in connection with an ongoing investigation into the Feb. 27 shooting of Nemecio Camacho II, 24. He died Feb. 29.Detectives said the investigation into Camacho’s murder is continuing.

Jamal “Dog” Desir and Travis R. “Babz” Mills, both 26; Kiente Matthew, 27; and the two 17-year-olds were all charged with possession of unlicensed firearms.

The arrests came after Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives executed search and arrest warrants at three residences in Estate Baron Spot, where police allegedly confiscated two handguns from one residence as well as a shotgun and a large amount of ammunition from a second. Nothing was reportedly confiscated from the third residence.

The adults were all held on $25,000 bail each and remanded to the custody of the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending further court action. The two minors were remanded to the custody of the Youth Rehabilitation Center pending their court appearance.
