Fire Service Announces Ban on Burning Permits

Effective immediately, new burning permits will not be issued territory-wide until further notice. Due to the dry weather, burning of rubbish at this time would be extremely hazardous, according to a press release issued on Monday by the Virgin Islands Fire Service.
“It is appropriate that this ban be put in place as we must take all precautions and work together in being proactive in safeguarding property and life,” VIFS Assistant Director Daryl A. George said.
