Sigma Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. is soliciting community participation in its annual Virgin Islands Arts Festival held in celebration of Virgin Islands History Month. This year’s festival will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, at the Emancipation Garden on St. Thomas.
The program will feature art exhibits from local artists and students from the public schools, including dancers, singers, musicians and storytellers. Balloons will be available for the children and free giveaways will be available while supplies last. Certificates will be presented to all who participate. Vendors are permitted for a nominal fee.
“Our Virgin Islands history is rich and diverse, and we must continue to promote and celebrate our culture. Everyone is welcomed to participate. We hope to have many of the participants from years past join us this year such as the Mungo Niles Cultural Dancers, St. Thomas Majorettes, St. John Love City Leapers. This year we hope to have more performers.” said Elisa Hodge, president.
To participate or for more information, contact Elisa Hodge at 771-5332 or e-mail her at eghodge@yahoo.com, or contact Annette Henderson at 998-3530 by March 10.
