Hit-and-Run Kills Man on St. Croix

Traffic Investigation officers on St. Croix are investigating a car accident which left 40-year-old Reinhold John Jr. dead in an apparent hit-and-run accident, which occurred Monday night.

According to the initial police investigation, John was driving a motor scooter near the intersection of Fisher and King Streets in Frederiksted, when he was hit around 8:20 p.m. by a truck that didn’t remain at the scene.

John was taken by ambulance to Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment where he later died from his injuries at approximately 11:30 p.m. Monday night, according to police. The victim’s next of kin was notified at the hospital.

Traffic officers are actively investigating this accident and have identified a person of interest. Anyone with information can call officers at 778-2244, 778-9857, or the Crime Stoppers USVI anonymous tip line at 1-800-222-8477.
