Saturated Patrol Officers Arrest Nine on Friday

Police officers conducting a saturated patrol on St. Croix Friday arrested eight people on charges of possession of a controlled substance and one for driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance.

Three suspects were arrested few minutes before 4 p.m. at the Consumers Gas Station in Frederiksted. Renison Fingal Jr., age 29 of no fixed address, and Calvin D. Brown, also nown as Ishanti, of Estate Upper Love, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. They were each held on a $1,000 bail.

Jason T. Rames, age 52 of Estate Grove Place was arrested at Consumers Gas station and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. His bail was set at $10,000.

At about 5 p.m. Kali Ayala, age 27 of Estate Clifton Hill, was arrested on the Queen Mary Highway and charged with simple possession of a controlled substance. His bail was set at $1,000.

Megan Fitzgerald, age 32 of Estate Work and Rest, was arrested in the area of Estate Mon Bijou. Carlton Walters, age 18 of Estate Clifton Hill, and Malik Graham, age 20 of Estate Glynn, were both arrested near the basketball court in Estate Glynn. The three suspects were arrested at about 6 p.m. and charged with simple possession of a controlled substance. They were all held on a $1,000 bail each.

And, at about 10 p.m. Joseph Williams, age 25 of no fixed address, was arrested in the Aureo Diaz Heights housing community and charged with simple possession of a controlled substance. His bail was also set at $1,000.

All the arrestees were remanded to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending their advice of rights hearing.

Christopher A. George age 57 of Estate La Grange, was arrested after police noticed the vehicle he was driving did not have back brake lights. When officers stopped the vehicle they observed that George was exhibiting signs of being under the influence of alcohol. He was given a field sobriety test and a breathalyzer test and failed both. He was placed on a $1,000 bail and released after he surrendered his license in lieu of bail.
