St. Croix Man Facing More Gun Charges

Roy Henry faces additional gun charges and remains at Golden Grove Correctional Facility pending trial (Photo VIPD)Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives on St. Croix arrested Roy Henry, also known as “Uncle Roy,” Saturday and charged him with 11 counts of violating V.I. gun laws.

Henry was arrested at the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility, where he is awaiting trial on separate gun charges.

The new charges are: unauthorized possession of a firearm, 20 counts of possession of ammunition, three counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and failure to report a firearm brought into the territory.

The charges are connected to a cache of weapons and drugs confiscated during a police raid on an abandoned home in Estate Princess on July 9.

During the raid, police confiscated ammunition, about five pounds of marijuana, two large rocks of crack cocaine, a bulletproof vest, scales, drug-packaging material and 11 weapons, including a shotgun, a rifle, eight pistols and an AK-47 assault rifle.

Police said, at the time, the search warrants were issued as part of the investigation into the death of Luis Roldan, whose charred body was found in a burning vehicle in the Ralph de Chabert housing community on July 3.

Forensic tests on the collected evidence were completed recently and confirmed that Henry had possession of the weapons, according to the police department.

In a separate case, Henry was picked up by police on Feb. 26, along with four other suspects, and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Police recovered three firearms, a quantity of marijuana and cash during the raid.

Bail for Henry was set at $200,000 for the new charges. He was unable to post bail and was returned to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility to await trial.
