Police Arrest Double Homicide Suspect

Double homicide suspect Louis F. Mahoney was arrested at about 11:45 a.m. Wednesday on St. Thomas in connection with a May 2010 incident that left two dead and two injured.

According to the V.I. Police Department, Mahoney’s arrest was the culmination of an intensive investigation by Major Crimes Unit detectives.

Mahoney, 31, of Estate Nadir is facing two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault and three counts of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a crime of violence in connection with a May 9 shooting near the Cockpit/Dana Mart on Brookman Road in Estate Nadir.

Mahoney is accused of the murder of Ronald Lewis of Estate Tutu and Ajahi Henneman of Estate Anna’s Retreat. Both victims were 22 years old. Two other males, ages 19 and 20, were injured by gunfire in the same incident.

Mahoney was held without bail at his advice of rights hearing Wednesday afternoon.

Chief of Detectives Lt. Milton Petersen Sr. congratulated the detectives on the arrest of this murder suspect.

“This case required intensive investigation by the detectives in order to establish a solid case for court purposes," Petersen said. "We thank the public for their patience while the case was being investigated and for their assistance in providing the officers with the tips needed to solidify this case.”
