Hummers, Stealers and Softball Inc. are Tuesday Night Winners

Stealers Slugger Ronald Schjang Jr., locks on to one of his two round trippers in game two.The Bob Owens Slow Pitch Softball League was back to its regular schedule on Tuesday after playing some makeup games on Monday at the D.C. Canegata Ball Park.

In Tuesday’s action the Diageo Hummers, the defending champion Seaborne Stealers, and Softball Inc. all came out on top in their respective games.

Hummers 16, Dirty Dozen 11
After celebrating their first win of the season on Monday, the Dirty Dozen was brought back to reality by the Hummers by a score of 16-11. It was the Hummers with 16 runs on 17 hits and two errors, while the Dirty Dozen finished with 11 runs on 13 hits and four errors. The winning pitcher was Roman Cruz, and Steve Nisky got the loss. Top batters for the winners were Sylvester Blake (2 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs) and Dennis Clark (2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs). For the Dirty Dozen, Cory Moore was 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs, and Luis Viera was 3 for 3 with two RBIs.

Stealers 12, Set It Off 3
Seaborne Stealers ace Sam Ramos scattered six hits and allowed a paltry three runs as his team romped to an easy 12-3 victory over Set It Off in game two on Tuesday. The champs continued their stellar play and remain the only team in the league yet to have tasted defeat in 2011. It was the Stealers with 12 runs on 15 hits and three errors, while Set It Off finished with three runs on six hits and three errors. Julio Carmona got the loss on the mound for Set it Off. Top batters for the winners were Ronald Schjang Jr. (2 for 3 with two home runs and four RBIs) and Freddie Pimentel (2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs). For Set It Off, David Pierre was 2 for 2 with a home run and one RBI.

Softball Inc. 16, Cartel 12
After suffering a shocking defeat on Monday to the cellar-dwelling Dirty Dozen squad, Softball Inc. bounced back with a tough win over the Cartel. Softball Inc. finished with 16 runs on 18 hits and three errors, while the Cartel had 12 runs on 16 hits and two errors. The winning pitcher was Cody St. Pierre, and Ian Lewis got the loss. The winners were led offensively by Ephraim Ramirez (4 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs) and St. Pierre (3 for 4 with two home runs and six RBIs). For the Cartel, Kenny Milligan was 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs, and Edwin Derweer was 3 for 4 with two home runs and four RBIs.
