Frank Petersen Dies at 86

Frank Petersen, also known as “Frankie Pete” or “Nine,” of Frederiksted, St. Croix, died at age 86.

He is survived by his spouse, Clarissa Messer Petersen; son, Kendall “Seigo” Petersen; daughters: Denise Stout (N.Y.), Ava Petersen, Valerie Petersen Sackey (W.V.), Verdel Petersen, Shermaine Nielsen, Violet Petersen (Ga.), Darice Plaskett, Norine Spicer (Fla.), Wanda Morris and Judith Molloy; granddaughters: Kimberly Fredericks, Charissa Sackey Jones, Stacy Wiggins Malone, Monique Moorehead, Clarissa E., Clarissa S., Indika, Kaniika, Kendra, Kenishwa, Kesi, Mahalia and Masonya Petersen, Amira Plaskett, Tiffany Sackey, Vonda Smith, Jada Spicer, Venne’ Williams and Aisha Woods; and grandsons: Leopold Gittens, Amenhotep, Frank, Kendall T. Jr., Kidall, Menelik, Mikael and Nakeem Petersen, Dean Plaskett, Lionel Sackey Jr., Justin Stout, Kevin Spicer and Kibwe Tom.
He is also survived by great granddaughters: Shanara Encarnacion, Marley Gray, Makyla and Malaysia Jones, Miniya Malone, Kennatra Petersen, Larissa Serrano, and Mkah, Makaya and Maya Taylor; great grandsons: Malachi Benjamin, Tobias Brown Jr., Cory and Camerin Fredericks , Akeem Jones, Bilal McFarlane, Michael Malone, Jahzir, Kendall T. III, and Kabalion Petersen, Marco Rodriguez Jr., Lionel Sackey III and Takari Vandiver; son-in-law, Meredith Nielsen; sisters: Antoinette Bolling and Marion Ford; nieces: Sheila Arrington, Florette Augustine, Collette Bellamy-Pilgrim, Karen Karlson Brown, Noeleen Christian, Cedelle Christopher, Myrtle Court, Rosalin Ford, Mable Melchior, Colleen Metoyer, Marion, Mavis and Trina Petersen, Merle Petersen-George, Marlene Petersen-Henderson, Olga Petersen-Hewett, Jeanette Robinson and Ingrid Santangelo; and nephews: Lloyd Bolling Jr., Eddie and Robert Ford, Rodney Mackay, Claude, Claude H., Delroy, Herman V., Hugh, Lauritz, Lawrence and Milton Petersen.
Other survivors include sisters-in-law: Evelyn Messer James and Edna Petersen; brother-in-law, Lloyd Bolling Sr.; 38 great nieces; 25 great nephews; 54 great-great nieces; 49 great-great nephews; cousins: the Edney, Heyliger and Petersen families, and Veronica Phillips; special friends: Eric Lynch, Elmer James, Douglas Nesbitt, Bernadine Bailey, Leroy “Crime” Arnold, Harry Harris, Oneal Able, Herbert Smith, Edgar Ilse, Joseph James, Leroy Mercer and Richard Schrader; Honorable Ladies Yvette Johnson and Sharon Cummings; as well as others too numerous to mention.
He is predeceased by his mother, Petrina Edney Petersen and his father, Hugh Petersen, brothers: Claude, Ivan, Lauritz, Gustave and Pierpont Petersen and sisters: Eulalie Elcock and Rachel Avilda Ross Carter.
All arrangements are by James Memorial Funeral Home Inc.

There will be a viewing held at 9:30 a.m. and a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Frederiksted Cemetery.
