Police Seek Help in Identifying Dead Man

Virgin Islands Police are asking the St. Croix community to help identify a man was found dead at about 2:30 p.m. on a beach west of Frederiksted.

The man, who is believed to be more than 60 years old, was found by a passerby near the shoreline. He was not carrying any form of identification, according to police.

Emergency Medical Technicians who arrived on the scene could not find any signs of life. Police said there were no obvious signs of trauma to the body and believe the man died of natural causes. The exact cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner.

The man has a dark complexion, a full beard and moustache and wears his hair in an afro style. His hair is gray with some black in it. He is about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and slim built. He was wearing a white button down shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone who can identify this individual or is missing a family member fitting the description of the deceased man can call the office of the deputy chief at 712-6005 or 911.
