Kayak for Kids Event Raises Money for Children's Home

Lutheran Social Services of the Virgin Islands will hold its 11th annual Kayak for Kids event on Sunday, June 13, a fundraiser for the Queen Louise Home for Children. Participants in the event will paddle from Cane Bay on the North Shore around Hamm’s Bluff and land at Frederiksted Beach where they will be joined by children from the Queen Louise Home. There will be food and raffle prizes. There will also be a unique prize given to the kayaker who raises the most money.

Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Cane Bay. Kayaks will go into the water at 11 a.m. Participants may bring their kayaks to Cane Bay or join the fun at Butler Bay (novices may put in at Butler Bay and paddle the second leg to Frederiksted in calm water). There is a $50 participation fee. Participants can also pre-register at Villa Morales, 5-7 p.m., Thursday, June 10.
More information, call Lutheran Social Services at 772-4099 ext. 24 and 28. Sponsorship forms are available at Lutheran Social Services, 516 Hospital Street, Frederiksted, or e-mail lssvi1904@yahoo.com
