Lost River's Return Highlights Pre-Easter Race Card

The horses will be off and running at the Randall “Doc” James Racetrack on Sunday with five races contested at distances from six to 7-1/2 furlongs.

The featured and fifth race of the day will see the return of Lost River (121), one of the top thoroughbreds in the territory, to competition for the first time in 2010. Lost River will undoubtedly be the favorite but after being away from the track for several months, he may need a race or two to get back into top form.

If he falters, look for the speedy Green Sand (118) to have a huge say in the outcome of this race. And don’t count out Puerto Rican Emblem (117), who has been very good of late, and Eltish Emerald (117). Look for Black Machine (114) to make a late run at the early pace-setters, and who knows — Sunday could be the day he shows his true class.

The second race on the card for native thoroughbreds is also promising. War (116) ran a huge race last race day against these horses, and many are expecting an improvement from her after that performance. Her toughest competition will most likely come from Express to Cali (118) and Emerald Star (118). These are two horses that could very easily end up in the winner’s circle as well and with the absence of their nemesis, native champ, Prince Krystal, this race is wide open. Race fans should also look for improvements from the rest of the field in Irie Ites (116), Creation Rebel (117), and Queen Agnes (114).
