Brief: Five Arrested for July Kidnapping and Assault

V.I. Police arrested five suspects this week in connection with a kidnapping and assault that happened July 15 on St. Thomas.

Yazid Azzam, 29, of Estate Lindberg Bay and Abdel H. Alnobani, 39, of Estate Solberg, were arrested by members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau on St. Thomas.

According to police, the suspects took a cell phone and wallet from a male victim, tied him up, assaulted him and held him against his will for several hours in Estate Contant.

Alnobani was arrested Monday evening, while Azzam was arrested before noon Tuesday. Later Tuesday, police arrested three more individuals: Zatar Abdullah, 19; Omar Abdullah, 24; and Jatar Abdullah, 25.

All five have been charged with kidnapping, assault in the first degree and using a dangerous weapon during the commission of a crime of violence in connection with a crime.

All suspects were placed on a $100,000 bail.
