The Florence Williams Library, located in the Christiansted town, will be closed until further notice, according to a press release from Commissioner Robert Mathes of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources.
The closure will allow for repairs to be made to the elevator. The broken elevator is leaking hydraulic fluid, thus releasing a strong, pungent odor throughout the building. The odor made it extremely difficult to breathe for customers and staff. The commissioner apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
