St. Croix Rotary West Honors Father of the Year

June 12, 2009 – St. Croix Rotary West Club will honor one of its heroes during the Tenth Annual Father’s Day Recognition Ceremony scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at the Club’s Community Center, according to Lloyd Daniels, chairperson of Rotary West Family Committee. Clifford Alexander Christian, affectionately known as “Cliffco,” has been selected as St. Croix Rotary West 2009 Father of the Year.
“He is always available to give wise counsel to his fellowmen should they seek his advice,” Daniels said. “For much of his life, he has been dedicated to serving others without recompense.” A Rotarian since 1974, Christian is credited with being the only Rotarian who served as president for three terms.
An educator, he began his long career in 1963 as a teacher at the Charles H. Emanuel Elementary School and retired in 1994 after serving 18 years as principal of the Grove Place School (the Eulalie R. Rivera Elementary School). A very loving, kind and civic minded individual, Christian has been the chairman of the Police Civilian Board, a member of the V.I. Emblem Commission, a delegate to the third V.I. Constitutional Convention and a member of the Board of Election.
Clifford Alexander Christian is the proud father of four sons: Wayne, Clyve, Chayne and Carlos, and four daughters: Cleone, Christina, Karen and Carol. He is blessed with 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
