Hovensa Appoints New President

May 27, 2009 – The Hovensa Executive Committee, the governing board of Hovensa L.L.C., has appointed David P. Huffman as president and chief operating officer of the company effective June 1. He will succeed Lawrence J. Kupfer, who is retiring after six years as president COO of Hovensa and 28 years in the oil industry.
Huffman was recently the plant manager of a 265,000 barrel-per-day ConocoPhillips refinery near Houston, Texas. He was named to that position in 2007 after serving as maintenance and reliability manager of a 310,000 barrel-per-day ConocoPhillips refinery near St. Louis, Missouri, from 2002 to 2007. Previously, he was commercial/naphtha supply director for Phillips Petroleum after holding various positions with the company in engineering, operations, economics and planning since 1986.
Huffman has a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
