Bravo, Steve, you gave the taxi drivers a bar of excellence to shoot for! One only has to look at the ship's websites for the positive responses from the customers. I was one of your pirates, Captain Greybeard, and I am sad your creative and well thought out project didn't make it. It was a joy to provide a service that was so appreciated by storeowners, cruise ship lines, cruise ship officers and crews, tourists, most Virgin Islanders, and even some safari bus drivers.
In the end this will be a hollow victory for those opposed to the use of our beautiful harbor to help solve the horrible downtown traffic problem. Perhaps the VI Government will see this as an opportunity and will buy the boats to start a real full time water taxi to serve both tourists and locals. Pirate Harbor Tours demonstrated how it could be set up and bought all the equipment and put together a competent and creative staff. Everything is in place! It could work! That is if Legislators, don't write another law targeting other water ventures. It is hard enough for a business to start up in these difficult times without government interference.
