Virginia Maria Gittens-Ferris Dies in Georgia

Feb. 21, 2009 – Virginia Maria Gittens-Ferris, also known as "Virgie" or "Gina," of Estate White Lady died on Feb. 16, in Atlanta, Georgia. She was 82 years old.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Keith R. Gittens Jr., Kenneth, Kevin and Karl Gittens; great-grandchild, Shonneth Gittens; daughter-in-law: Leticia Gardine-Gittens; sisters: Corrine Messer and Vera Gittens-George; brother, Antonio Messer; and sister-in-law: Verily Harris-Messer. She is also survived by nieces: Leah, Michelle and Toni Messer, Tysha Henry and Arlene George; nephews: Dwayne Thomas and Antonio Messer; uncle, Benamin Balfour Gittens; special friends: Vernon Philpot, Alice Joseph, Ima Adams and Guillermo Encarnacion; and many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing held at 9 a.m. and a funeral service at 10 a.m., on Friday, Feb. 27, at the Fridensberg Moravian Church. Interment follows at Frederiksted Cemetery.
