Crucian Artist Captures 'Island Moments'

Feb. 9, 2009 – Crucian artist Danica David, owner of Danica Art Gallery, will be showcasing her recent artworks, "Island Moments." The exhibit will open from 5-8 p.m. on Art Thursday, Feb. 19, and will be on display until March 10, at her gallery in downtown Christiansted.
David has been in business for eight years and is also an art teacher at the Eulalie R. Rivera School. "I have managed to maintain both careers successfully by prayers and the support of family and friends. I truly enjoy working with people," she said.
This will be her first exhibit in three years, and with it, she explores moments she has seen or experienced during her daily life on St. Croix. David's inspiration comes from Paul Gaughin. She uses lush color and flat, two-dimensional forms.
Her painting, "Diamond Ruby Rooster," conveys her fascination with her new surroundings. "Since I have moved to my new location in the Apothecary Hall Complex, I have become fascinated with chickens and roosters, since I see them strutting around the grounds there."
For more information about the exhibition, call the gallery at 719-6000 or visit online at www.danicaartvi.com.
