Softball Inc., Claudio, Seaborne Pick Up Wins

Jan. 24, 2009 — Softball Inc. outlasted the National Guard Hummers 18-11, while Claudio Enterprises and the Seaborne Stealers crushed their opponents in five innings Thursday night at the D.C. Canegata Ball Park. Softball Inc.’s victory means that they remain the only unbeaten team in the Bob Owens Slow Pitch Softball league as the regular season winds down. Hot on their heels, however, are the Seaborne Stealers who lost a heartbreaker to Softball Inc. in their only head-to-head match-up earlier in the season.

Seaborne Stealers 26, Anchor Dive 5
The Seaborne Stealers erupted for nine runs in the first inning of game two to set the stage for their easy 26-5 mercy-rule victory over an Anchor Dive squad who never had a chance to raise anchor. The Stealers finished with 26 runs on 20 hits and two errors, while Anchor Dive plated just five runs on nine hits. Stealers ace Samuel Ramos got the win on the hill as he kept the Anchor Dive offense in check with a nine-hit pitching effort. Edwin Sankitts was the losing hurler. Top hitters for the Stealers were Angel Torres 4 for 4 with a home run and nine RBIs and Eustace Davis, 3 for 4 with two home runs and five RBIs.
