Jan. 23, 2009 — The V.I. Public Services Commission will hear an update on the status of Innovative bankruptcy proceedings and a report on Vitelco customer service Monday.
The regular monthly meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in the upstairs Port Authority conference room of the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport. The V.I. Water and Power Authority will be there too, discussing current fuel pricing and the Levelized Energy Adjustment Clause, or LEAC, on customer bills.
WAPA Executive Director Hugo Hodge Jr. will talk about the status of the fuel saving second waste heat recovery boiler on St. Croix, which has been delayed due to shipping delays and other reasons. He and staff will also update the PSC on WAPA's fuel price hedging program — a way to reduce risks of a sharp spike in fuel prices at the cost of not benefiting from a sharp drop in prices.
Two new members of the PSC are likely to be at the meeting as well. The newly formed governing majority in the Legislature has selected Sens. Patrick Sprauve and Michael Thurland as its ex officio representatives on the commission.
