Agriculture Announces Temporary Closure of Abattoir

Nov. 26, 2008 – The general public is advised that the abattoir in Estate Nadir on St. Thomas was closed on Wednesday. The closure was in effect as a result of the district-wide power outage. The facility will be slaughtering animals on Friday, Nov. 28, assuming that power is restored to the area, according to a press release from Commissioner of the Department of Agriculture Dr. Louis Petersen.
The management and staff of the Department of Agriculture regret any inconvenience that this temporary closure may have caused.
For further information, call the department at 774-5182.
