The Waitikubuli Wins; Laraza and UWS Tie

Nov. 19, 2008 – The Waitikubuli used three first-half goals to defeat the Central Link 3-1, in the St. Thomas Region’s Tuesday night action at the Lionel Roberts Stadium to move within one point from the UWS and the Laraza in the battle for third place. David Orhaindo, Mackendrick Bernard and Dale Africa each scored for the Waitikubuli, who lead 3-0 at the half. In the second half, the Central Link finally scored a consolation goal after squandering good opportunities. The Waitikubuli are now in 5th place with 27 points. In the earlier game, Laraza and UWS started the evening tied for 3rd place with 27 points and ended up tied for 3rd place with 28 points as they played to a goalless draw. Both teams were guilty of squandering high percentage goal-scoring opportunities throughout the game. The UWS’ goalkeeper Bennet Deddens stopped Juan Carlos Arboleda’s penalty kick less than 10 minutes into the game.
The action will continue at 7 p.m., this Thursday, when the fourth time defending champion, the Positive Vibes, face the Raymix, followed by the New Vibes and Laraza.
