Austin Clendinen Dies at 71

Sept. 22, 2008 – Austin L. Clendinen, also known as "Sonny," "Boilie," "Sundown," or "Cleno," of Hospital Ground St. Thomas died at his residence on Sept. 16. He was 71 years old.
He is survived by his soul mate, Estrelda Schulterbrandt Petersen; daughters: Arlene Clendinen and Staff Sgt. Audrey L. Abbott; brothers: Sgt. Maj. Monroe F. Clendinen Jr., Ejnar Clendinen and Emile Clendinen; sisters: Anna Clendinen Thompson and Sheryl Christian; and grandchildren: Daija Dothard, Ali Christensen and Jaylah Ross. He is also survived by special cousin, Verna Garcia; special friends: the Capeharts, the Schulterbrandts and the McNamaras; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
A viewing will take place at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, Sept. 25, at James Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Internment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
