Another Murder Victim Discovered in Hospital Ground

Sept. 12, 2008 — For the second time this month, police find themselves investigating a murder in the Hospital Ground area.
The victim, said to be in his mid 40s, was discovered about 7:45 p.m. Thursday in the driver's seat of a green 1993 Toyota Tercel, according to Police Spokeswoman Melody Rames. The name of the victim, who lived in Hospital Ground, is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, Rames said in a statement released Friday.
Investigators responded to the area after someone called 911 to report gunshots, police say. Emergency medical technicians noted several gunshot wounds to the victim's body and pronounced him dead at the scene, Rames said.
The killing marks the 18th homicide this year on St. Thomas and the 32nd killing territory-wide. It comes just over a week after a 39-year-old man was found shot to death in Hospital Ground. On Sept. 3, the body of Richard Walker, 39, was found near an area known as Jah Yard. His hands were tied behind his back and he had been shot multiple times.
Police urge anyone with information on this homicide or any other unsolved killing to contact investigators by calling 774-4950 or 911.
