Landmarks Society Brings Bluegrass Musicians to Central High School for Interactive Workshop

Sept. 4, 2008 – Central High School band students and chorus students will participate in a music workshop led by Stanford World Music Concert Series featuring guitarist Joe Lessard and fiddler Adam Kinghorn at 2 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 5, in the Central High School music building.
They will perform traditional and contemporary bluegrass and American songs and speak with the students about the history and origins of bluegrass and American music, string instrument techniques, bluegrass rhythms, and their experiences as musicians and music teachers. Lessard and Kinghorn will engage the students in a question and answer forum at the end of the workshop.
Emily Graci, manager of events and community outreach, said, "For twenty years Landmarks Society has provided classical music education workshops with the Listen and Learn program. This year, for the Stanford World Music Concert Series, we have created music workshops that offer a broad exposure to different sounds and rhythms from around the world…And for the final concert this Saturday, Sept. 6, the Bluegrass Americana musicians will visit Central High students, and once again, provide a new musical experience for St. Croix students."
