Aug. 20, 2008 – Property owners can expect to begin receiving their 2006 property-tax bills later this week. These bills will be issued to the property owner of record as of Jan. 1, 2007, according to a press release from Tax Assessor Roy L. Martin. Attorney General Vincent Frazer has determined that the issuance of the 2006 bills by the Division of Property Tax is in accordance with Act No. 6991, the recently enacted property tax legislation, and other applicable statutory provisions.
Martin also advises taxpayers eligible for the circuit-breaker tax credit that they may still apply for that credit upon receiving their 2006 bill. Property owners are eligible for the circuit-breaker credit if their tax bills have increased by 125 percent or more on their homestead or unimproved property and their gross income is less than $135,000. The application deadline has passed for other tax credits.

St. John:——Former Department of Finance location, Cruz Bay
St. Thomas:——Builders Emporium (behind the Medical Arts Building)
