Dear Source:
When I read the headline, "Senate Passes Captain Morgan Deal Over St. Croix Opposition," I felt for the first time in my almost 30 years as an owner of property in the Virgin Islands and 10 years as a resident, proud that our government has done something forward-looking. Our governor is a leader of the first order. I couldn't have said it better myself: "Real change requires looking at things in new ways and working with new people, not just doing the same failing things over and over, and always getting the same unsatisfactory results," the governor said. The words in bold are, by the way, a definition of "insanity."
When the governor said, "We have been making progress; we made real progress today with this vote. Some have tried to hold us back. But I believe that the people of our territory are tired of excuses and empty promises. I believe Virgin Islanders wish to say 'yes' to opportunity, progress, and cooperation," he was absolutely right.
Thank you to the ten Senators who saw the wisdom of approving this contract.
Now, the PSC and WAPA need to learn lessons from this–stop doing the same things, take hold of alternative energy so WAPA won't need to keep going back to us for more money.
It looks like Obama spirit is taking hold, and it should as 89.9% of us voted for Real Change We Can Believe In at the federal level. We need more of the same for the Territory.
