Jamaican Jazz Fusion at Whim

The Stanford World Music Concert Series Under the Stars will be presented on three separate evenings at the Whim Plantation Museum beginning on Saturday, July 12, with Jamaican Jazz Fusion. The St. Croix Landmarks Society has prepared a second season of the family-friendly outdoor concerts that explore cultural music traditions from around the world with the support of Stanford Financial Group Management
The 2008 concert line-up also includes, Alma de Cuba on Saturday, Aug. 16, and Bluegrass Americana on Saturday, Sept. 6.
Jamaican Jazz Fusion features artists Jon Williams on piano and violin and Alexander Martin-Blanken on keyboard. The duo from Kingston, Jamaica will perform songs by Bob Marley, Tony Rebel, Luciano, and others.
Seated tickets are available under the tent for $30 and lawn tickets are available under the stars for $15. Lawn-ticketed guests are advised to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Tickets are available at the door or guests can pre-pay by calling St. Croix Landmarks Society at 772-0598. Gates open at 6pm and performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Jamaican food plates available at 6 p.m. for $20; call ahead to reserve. Cash bars will be available for refreshments.
