Local Red Cross Selects New Executive Director

April 23, 2008 – The American Red Cross of the Virgin Islands has selected Jan Quoss to be its new executive director. Peter Najawicz, chair of the Board of Directors of the Red Cross Chapter, made the announcement and stated that Quoss would be transitioning to the V.I. over the next several weeks and will be officially welcomed on May 17.
"We are truly pleased to have found a leader of such outstanding caliber. Jan has demonstrated through her American Red Cross career her ability to build productive, team-oriented organizations and to focus on the importance of volunteerism, while simultaneously fostering partnerships with diverse community constituencies," Najawicz said.
Jan Quoss brings over 40 years experience with the American Red Cross, both as a volunteer and as an employee serving at the chapter, regional and national levels of the organization. She comes to the V.I. from Worcester, Mass., where she most recently held the position of volunteer management human resources officer for the northeast service area of the American Red Cross.
Prior to that, Quoss spent nine years in Washington D.C. where she held several management- level positions, the last being director of leadership institutes where she led one of the organization's major initiatives on executive and chair development. She holds a B.S. in Health Administration and has received several local and regional awards for her work in managing a large Learn-to-Swim program and developing volunteer partnerships.
