Veterans Affairs to Hold Benefits Meetings

March 18, 2008 – The Office of Veterans Affair will conduct meetings for veterans in the U.S. Virgin Islands to inform them of benefits they are entitled to, both federal and local. Widows, spouses and dependents of veterans are also encouraged to attend these meetings, according to a press release from the Office of Veterans Affairs.
General meeting and opening of St. John Veterans Affairs Office: The meeting for St. John will take place at 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, March 27, at the Legislature building on St. John. Starting on March 28, 2008, and every Friday after, there will be a representative from the Office of Veterans Affairs at the administrator's office from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. to assist with applications and answer questions on veterans benefits.
Meeting for St. Thomas veterans: 6:30 p.m., March 28, at the American Legion Hall in Sub Base.
Information for disabled veterans:Permanent and disabled veterans have low incomes and are 65 years of age and older, may be eligible for monetary support if they have 90 days or more of active military service, at least one day of which was during a period of war.
